Zaino + Associates served as the Owner’s Project Manager for New England Innovation Academy to transform 238,000 sf former Verizon call center campus into a new private school, focused on innovative learning. Phase One of the transformation, referred to as Building C and West Dorm consisted of renovating 60,000 sf of space to create an environment that supports group learning, research, collaboration, and embraces diversity. The spaces included learning studios/classrooms, libraries, collaborative spaces, STEM and incubator space for hands-on learning, and a black box theater. Additionally, the project consisted of renovating 25,000 sf into dormitory space.  A new main school entrance was created, which shifted the existing entry from the east side of the building to the west. This 2,000 sf addition required extensive structural coordination, seamlessly transitioned between a 40+ year old masonry building to create a new modern metal panel and glazed addition as a grand entrance.  Subsequent phases include athletic fields, theater, and additional dormitories that will provide student and family housing.
